Catalogue description
"So whistle while you work!" Mimicking the songbird on her finger, presented here is a lovely original animation drawing of the eponymous Princess from Disney's 1937 breakout feature-length film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in her "Whistle While You Work" musical number. Memorably voiced by harmonious Adriana Caselotti (1916 - 1997), Snow White notably did not credit any of the voice actors in original theatrical releases in an effort to 'preserve the magic' of a fictional character brought to life; Caselotti would finally be recognized for her groundbreaking work on the film shortly before her passing, being the first female voice actor to be awarded Disney Legend status in 1994. This moment of Snow singing and sweeping can be spotted near the 21:05 timestamp. She has been rendered in graphite and red pencil to a half-figured character size of 5.25" x 8" including her feathered accompanist. The 12 field 5-peghole animation sheet bears production information along the lower edge stamped 2001 3D 18 (production, sequence, scene), initialed WK (possibly for animator Ward Kimball who did receive screen credit), and marked 64A (frame number). The sheet has been floated in a Plexiglas-fronted frame measuring 24.75" x 25.25" overall with a main aperture of 13" x 10.5" and an additional 4.5" x 1.5" aperture containing a plaque describing the piece. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. With typical handling and edge wear including faint age-related toning, overall this dulcet drawing is in Very Good condition.
